Board Meeting Minutes - April 13, 2013
 
   
 

 

The meeting was called to order by President Joe Lightowler at 9:00 a.m. at the Pub.

Board members present: Joe Lightowler, Sharon Olson, Rhonda Wilson, Carol Anhorn, Merle Zimmerman, Jim Colbert, Steve Busch, Sam Blattenbauer, Lyle Hansen, Randy Christianson, Ramona Borke, Rueben Tschritter, and Paula Wilson.

The minutes of last meeting were approved as emailed.

Treasurer’s report was read by Randy Christianson and filed.

Donna Christianson updated the membership list by alphabet and beach. List was given to Carol Anhorn.

The newsletter will be mailed by April 19th. Forum Communications is doing the mailing, 700 people are on the mailing list. Jim suggested that The Foundation use the same mailing list and company for its mailings.

A discussion was held regarding doing an e-directory. It was decided that Paula discuss this with Carol and regardless of decision made a hard copy directory will be printed. Butch Antone was given approval to purchase the the new buoys at a cost of $470.00 a piece.

Lyle, Carol and Joe met with Sheriff Kelly Shannon. He shared information that they have knowledge of the boat and driver involved in last summer’s accident but are lacking hard evidence. Butch Antone thought there was a possibility of divers looking for boat parts.

Mandy Erickson, DNR Fisheries, informed Board of the intention of the DNR to purchase property on Point de Isle. They are seeking donations from various organizations to help with cost of purchase. Donations will be matched by RM. She was asked questions and will get back to Board with those she was unable to answer.

Carol informed Mandy that a request has been made to be a test lake which would be a project to held fund inspectors by charging to use the lake accesses. If there is no inspector present the access would be closed.

Sam reported that Spring Fling is June 15th. Board members should report at 8:30 with the meeting to begin at 10:00 a.m. Jim was allotted $300.00 for door prizes. It was suggested that we add Mandy Erickson to the agenda along with Sheriff Kelly Shannon. Carol has sent letters to Beach Captains and will find replacements for those who wish to resign.

Carol moved to allot $2000.00 for a clothing allowance for Spring Fling. Merle seconded. Motion passed.

Lyle reported that the Foundation will do another drive this year. There is presently $42,000.00 in the fund.

COLA is holding a meeting at the Comorant Community Center on June 13, 2013. All lake members are encouraged to attend.

Carol, Lyle and Joe met with the sheriff in effort to hire deputies over the 4th of July holiday. It was recommended that the lake be patrolled Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of that weekend from 2 p.m. into the evening hours. The cost would be $55.00 and hour. Trained volunteers with capability of giving tickets could be hired on other weekends as deemed necessary at a cost of $200.00 per day. Lyle moved to hire deputies for the 4th of July weekend and Rueben seconded. Motion passed. Joe will cancel if need be based on weather conditions.

Next scheduled meeting is Spring Fling.

Ronda moved to adjourn and Sam seconded. Motion passed.
