Dear Big Cormorant Lake Association,

We are the Land of Lakes Bowfishing Association, a club of avid sportsmen that enjoy the skill of archery with the excitement of fishing. We have worked with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to open up some Minnesota lakes to night bowfishing.

Night bowfishing allows the bowfishermen to be much more effective in harvesting larger numbers of carp and other rough fish. These types of fish tend to spend more time in the shallows at night and are less spooked and much easier to see with the aid of lights. What you may notice this summer on your lake starting June 1st, and going through August 31st, are boats floating in the shallows after dark equipped with bowfishing lights.

Our association is out to inform the public of the new law change and show how our hobby can benefit lakes from the destructive actions of carp. If you have questions or concerns we have a website that you can find out more at www.landoflakesbowfishing.com.

Thank you for your time,

Jake Mertens
